The city was a wasteland of broken dreams and shattered lives. The neon lights shone bright but offered no comfort to the desperate souls that roamed its streets. The rain fell like tears from a broken sky, washing the filth from the pavement but never able to cleanse the corruption from the hearts of the people. She walked the streets with purpose, her coat pulled tight around her body, her eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of life. She had heard whispers of a new drug, one that promised to take the user to the brink of insanity and beyond. As I walked down the deserted street, I heard my name being whispered on the wind, but when I turned to see who it was, no one was there. Suddenly, I felt a cold breath on the back of my neck and a voice whisper, "I've been waiting for you."

     It was a warm summer evening in the small town of Griffinhallow, and the sky was painted in a beautiful shade of orange as the sun set behind the hills. But as the night approached, a strange silence took over the town, as if everyone had suddenly vanished into thin air. All that remained were the flickering street lamps, casting eerie shadows on the empty roads.      Jenny was one of the few brave souls who dared to venture out into the night. She was a young psychology student, always on the lookout for new material for her studies.
